Books and Courses to Demystify AI

The topic for Artificial Intelligence has become one of the most talked and the terms of technology, that is used most today. Innovations like Alexa and Siri are just a small part of processes entering in everyday life and even carry out tasks formerly considered too difficult for robots to do. One of the most critical investments in the following years will be the capability to use AI and fully realize its potential.

This major change requires us to adapt quickly to an environment where AI is increasingly being used. There are concerns about misinformation from AI. In order to be prepared for the challenges and take advantage of new technology, here are the latest trends, books and courses on AI.

Trend 1: AI is generative and can create content autonomously. Generative AI has found its application across various domains, revolutionizing industries.

Trend 2: Natural Language Processing (NLP) enables machines to understand and generate human language. NLP algorithms allow computers to analyze and derive insights from text and speech data. Some cases: Sentiment Analysis, Chatbots and Virtual Assistants, Language Translation, Content Summarization, even in Healthcare.

Trend 3: Explainable AI aims to make AI transparent and accountable. It is about creating AI systems that cannot make decisions but also provide clear and understandable explanations for those decisions.

Here is the list of Top 5 books on AI:

Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach by Stuart J. Russell & Peter Norvig

For both academic and informal learners, this is an excellent overview of AI that is concise and to the point. Everyone often interacts with AI; therefore, failing to understand it would be a grave error. Anyone curious to learn more about the subject and its potential applications is highly encouraged to read it.

Human + Machine: Reimagining Work in the Age of AI by Paul R. Daugherty

According to Accenture executives Paul R. Daugherty and H. James (Jim) Wilson in Human + Machine, as people and intelligent technology collaborate more closely, work processes become more fluid and adaptable, enabling firms to make quick changes or completely rethink them — the regulations governing how firms operate all change as a result of AI.

Artificial Intelligence by Example by Denis Rothman

By using actual occurrences, this book offers a basis for understanding how artificial intelligence functions. The most cutting-edge machine learning models, how to integrate AI with blockchain and IoT, and how to leverage neural networks in chatbots to produce emotional quotients are all topics you’ll learn about.

The Sentient Machine: The Coming Age of Artificial Intelligence by Amir Husain

In The Sentient Machine, Husain “sets us up for a more promising future, not with hyperbole about right and evil, but with arguments about risk and opportunity”. He talks about critical existential issues brought up by the development of AI, such as the value of humanity.

The Hundred-Page Machine Learning Book by Andriy Burkov

It provides brand-new users with a thorough introduction to machine learning’s fundamentals. Based on the author’s extensive knowledge of AI offers valuable guidance for seasoned professionals. Each practical machine-learning approach is covered in the book.

Courses on AI

There are lots of online courses on AI for all who want to learn more about what AI really means and how it’s created. Among them Welcome to the Elements of AI is a free online course. Over 1 million people have joined the series learning about the basics of AI and how AI will develop and affect us in the coming years.

The Elements of AI is a series of free online courses created by MinnaLearn and the University of Helsinki with the goal to demystify AI. Both organisations aim to encourage as broad a group of people as possible to learn what AI is, what can (and cannot) be done with AI, and how to start creating AI methods.

The courses combine theory with practical exercises and can be completed at your own pace. They are divided in 2 parts:

  • Introduction to AI is a free online course for everyone interested in learning what AI is, what is possible (and not possible) with AI, and how it affects our lives – with no complicated math or programming required.
  • Building AI is a free online course where you will learn about the actual algorithms that make creating AI methods possible. Some basic Python programming skills are recommended to get the most out of the course.
