Facts In Focus is a collection of artwork from local artists and creators in Bulgaria, Lithuania, and Slovakia, designed to help people identify and respond to misinformation.
Starting July 3, 2023 Meta – the company behind popular social networks like Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram – launched this campaign trying, as they say, to help people recognize and counter misinformation. The company’s belief tried to be expressed by this campaign is that visual art can be a powerful tool for understanding complex societal challenges, such as misinformation, to empower people to decide for themselves what to read, trust and share – both online and offline.

The image used to illustrate this article work of the Lithuanian mural artist and painter Linas Kaziulionis, who often uses appropriation mixing classical art pieces with 21st-century attributes. For this current work it is done through James McNeil’s painting Whistler’s Mother, that helps capturing the attention of a mass audience, both young and old.
