Mitte Oktober ist es nun an der Zeit, die Ergebnisse zu präsentieren, die im Rahmen der zweijährigen Durchführung unseres Projekts Information Matters erarbeitet wurden.

Wir laden Sie 15. Oktober 2024 von 10:00 bis 15:00 Uhr nach Sofiain die Toplocentrala zur

Konferenz „Information Matters: Practices for Enhancing Adults Digital and Media Literacy" ein.

Bei dieser Veranstaltung werden wir die neu produzierte Reihe von Lehrvideos und digitalen Einheiten vorstellen und über die Pilotierungen in Bulgarien, Österreich und Rumänien berichten. Wir werden auch über die Herausforderungen in der Erwachsenenbildung von heute sprechen und uns mit einigen der AusbilderInnen, die Anfang des Jahres die Bildungskurse in digitaler Kompetenz und Medienkompetenz durchgeführt haben, austauschen. Verpassen Sie nicht die World Café-Panel-Workshops am Nachmittag zu den Themen „Informationskompetenz im Gesundheitsbereich", „Bekämpfung von Fake News" und „Medienkompetenz".

spaska tarandova

Spaska is the Executive Director of the Global Libraries - Bulgaria Foundation. All of her professional experience has been related to libraries and library development and modernization. She previously worked at Sofia Metropolitan Library, where from 2008 to 2014 she was Deputy Director of Library Activities and Automation. She is a specialist in American library practices and is part of the International Group for Innovations in Public Libraries (INELI), a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation initiative.
Spaska is a member of the Standing Committee of the Public Libraries section of IFLA, The International Federation of Library Associations. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Library and Information Association, and is on the editorial board of the BBIA Online magazine.
Spaska was a lead creator behind the successful “Fun Summer Reading” children’s reading campaign, an active participant in the “Read With Me” campaign sponsored by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, and the initiator of the early childhood development rooms in Sofia City Libraries, in partnership with IKEA Bulgaria.

 

semih solmaz

Project and Development Manager at EAVI. Semih graduated Salutatorian from the Department of English Language and Literature at Bilkent University with a minor in Analytic Philosophy. He holds a master’s degree with honours from KU Leuven’s Department of European Studies: Transnational and Global Perspectives, where he specialised in European Cultural and Media Policies. Prior to joining EAVI, Semih worked as a communications assistant for the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation. He is a native Turkish speaker, fluent in English, and currently learning French.
At EAVI, Semih is responsible for the daily operations and coordination, including activities related to projects, development, communications, research, and writing. He manages a number of Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, and CERV projects for EAVI, including Information Matters, Teachers 4.0 Digital Age, E-engAGEd, and What-If. Moreover, Semih continuously produces audiovisual and written materials on various media literacy topics for the empowerment of digital citizenship in Europe. He also functions as an assistant coordinator of the European Festival of Journalism and Media Literacy, Voices. Semih is mostly interested in critical media and information literacy, culture and social media, artificial intelligence, disinformation, and digital well-being. He is currently working on a digital well-being book project with EAVI’s founder and director, Paolo Celot, along with another book project under the supervision of a cultural studies professor, focusing on the interrelations between the concepts of post-truth, philosophy of media, and reality-making in the digital age.

 

Silviu petrariu

EU Project Manager at  CREFOP. Silviu is a trainer in non-formal education and a Conflict & Peace Coach, area in which he works for 8 years with the mission of supporting people in their growth, empowering them to get a better outcome in their lives. His background is coming from a Masters Degree in Conflict Management and several years of trainings in the topic of community engagement, personal development, entrepreneurship, Erasmus+ and other trainings, he enjoys working with people and supporting them in achieving a better view of themselves and of the world.

 

 

helmut kronika

Helmut is Managing Director of BEST, one of the main private adult education providers in Austria, and board member of the Austrian Adult Education Association, has been working in adult education for more than 30 years. He has been engaged in coordination and management of more than 250 national and European projects and is experienced in monitoring and evaluating large scale adult education programmes, didactic design and content development for various target groups.
Helmut Kronika’s work is based on his personal experience as a trainer, coach and consultant in different fields of adult learning.
His work is dedicated to European networking, exchange of experience and practice, research and development of innovation, knowledge management, personal and professional development for the benefit of adult learners.
One of his main fields of expertise is empowerment, self-directed learning and feedback management in adult education.

 

ANA LAZAROVA

From the founders and chairman of the association “Digital Republic” and the national coordinator of Creative Commons for Bulgaria. Ana is a doctoral student at the University of St. Kliment Ohridski and teaches intellectual property law in several majors at the Faculty of Philosophy. Professionally, Ana is a lawyer working in the field of copyright, as well as an industrial property representative before the Bulgarian Patent Office and the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). Since the beginning of the year, she has also been a member of the Coordinating Group of the Copyright Community of Europeana.

 

 iglika ivanova

Iglika is a state expert in the “International Cooperation, European Programs and Regional Activities” Directorate of the Ministry of Culture,

a doctoral candidate in the “Media Policy and Law of the EU” and a lecturer at Sofia University. Since 2019, she has been involved in the development of projects and programs in the field of formal and informal education in Bulgaria, organizing campaigns and public forums with wide participation on topics related to media literacy, both nationally and internationally, developing educational resources, conducting trainings for teachers, research in the field of media and information literacy and digital skills. In 2022, she became a member of the Board of the Coalition for Media Literacy and a founding member of the Prof. Renee Hobbs Media Education Lab in Rhode Island, USA. One of the directors is at the global conference MediaEd Forum in its 2023 and 2024 editions.

 

kristina vladimirova

Librarian since 2.5 years in RL “N. Furnadzhiev” – Pazardzhik. She previously worked in the commercial sector in the field of marketing. Kristina has a Master’s degree in “Library, Information and Cultural Management” at UniBIT (2023) and in “Business Administration” at VTU “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” (2015). In 2021, she decided to retrain and won a 4-year scholarship to study online at the University of California, where she will graduate next year with a degree in Computer Science. Conducts training courses in computer and information literacy, digital marketing, English language, etc. Her research work is focused on Economics and Organizational Management, HR, Marketing, SEO and AI. She is the author of several articles related to human capital in and out of libraries and does English translations of articles for the website “Academy for Parents”. Over the years, she has participated in 6 projects, some through GLBF – among them is “Information matters”. She is a member of the Association “Support BG” – Sofia and is a volunteer in the Marketing department of the same. Kristina actively participates in various technological conferences and seminars, where she exchanges experience and knowledge with colleagues from the industry. She attends the “eCommerce Annual Summit” conferences in Sofia every year at the invitation of the organizers from “Enterprise” magazine.

 

lubomira parijkova

Lubomira Parijkova is Associate Professor at the University of Library Studies and Information Technology. She has a master’s degree in philosophy. Her disciplines are bibliography, rhetoric, new forms of knowledge management. She is an Erasmus lecturer. She is the head of a project financed by the “Scientific Research” Fund – “New policies to stimulate reading. Study of bookcrossing practices in Bulgaria”, as well as numerous university projects.
Assoc. Prof. Lubomira Parijkova researches reading, ways to stimulate it, media and digital literacy in numerous publications. Hers is the initiative to celebrate the International Book and Copyright Day at the University of Library Studies and Information Technology since 2011. It was her idea that UniBIT presents the Homo legens awards. Organizer of conferences, essay and poster contests, curator of exhibitions, readings for children and students. Since 2019, she has been the main organizer of the UniBIT conference dedicated to the Day of People’s Awakeners.
She is the author of two monographs, 3 teaching aids, over 160 publications in Bulgarian and foreign magazines. Compiler and editor of scientific collections, 5 books. Deputy editor-in-chief of the scientific journal “Izdatel”. She is the director of the documentary film about her father Petar (2012) and the author of the documentary film “The Book – Our More Meaningful Present” (2015). In 2013, the Student Council at UniBIT chose her as Teacher of the Year, and in 2014 – as Creator of the Year. Married, with three children.

 

mima kontaki

From 2004 to 2011 she lived in Athens, Greece, after which she returned to her native village of Botevo, Tundzha, region Yambol. In 2013 Mima began working at the “Hr. Botev-1928” Chitalishte as a secretary to continue, preserve and transmit to the generations, the traditions and customs of her birthplace. In 2017 she passed a course for acquiring the third degree of professional qualification in the profession “Librarian”, conducted at UniBIT. In the fall of 2018 she enrolled in the Bachelor’s program at UniBIT, majoring in “Library and Information Management” and graduated with honors.
Over the years, Mima has taken a number of courses to increase her professional knowledge and skills, including: online course “Improving the digital skills and competences of librarians in Europe – BIBLIO”, “Practitioner Social Innovations”, an online course within the Erasmus+ project, ” Digitization, Digital Restoration and Presentation of Old Photographs”, Digital and Media Literacy Trainer Course for Seniors 55+.  During the academic year 2023-2024 she is an external trainer at the local school and conducts activities based on interests, trains children in applied arts in the “Workshop for Miracles” circle she founded, leads a singing, caroling and lazar group. Manages, organizes, maintains the library fund in the library at the community center, gainer support from the Ministry of Culture  for the project “Bulgarian libraries – modern centers for reading and information” for four years in a row. All this time, while learning and developing her knowledge, she does her work with desire and passion, and according to her husband, the most difficult part of her training is learning to make Greek moussaka.

 

silviya tsvetkova – gadzhalova

In 2016, Silvia graduated with a bachelor’s degree in “Ethnology”, and then in 2020, a master’s degree in “Preschool and primary school pedagogy” at the Paisii Hilendarski Polytechnic. In 2019, she started working at the community center “Ivan Vazov – 1931” in Komatevo quarter (city of Plovdiv) as a secretary, and at that time she was taking a librarian course at the UniBIT.
Since April 2023, she has been a Methodist at the RL “Ivan Vazov” in Plovdiv, involved in various trainings for librarians from the Plovdiv region. She is the chairman of the Territorial Section of BBIA for the city of Plovdiv.

 

 

gergana hrischeva

Journalist from the Bulgarian National Radio, currently senior editor in the “Internet Portal” Directorate of the BNR. She graduated from the Library College with a major in “Library Science and Bibliography”, and then from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” – Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communications, majoring in “Culture”, profile – “Radio”. She worked in the periodical press, radio and television, won a competition on the French television TV 5 even as a student on the topic – “Donation in Bulgaria”. She has been a journalist in the BNR for 24 years, most of them as a health reporter in the Horizon program.
Gergana is the winner of dozens of awards in the field of health care and the media, among which the Patient Organizations “Together with You”, the Association of Parents of Children with Epilepsy, the Bulgarian Medical Union, the Metropolitan Medical College, the Grand Prize of the BRC for overall contribution, and others. In 2023, she was awarded in the contest “For clean journalism Web Report” on the internet portal Dir.bg in the Podcast category – the award is for her author’s podcast “At the center of the system”, for the episode “Transplanted for transplants: The state abdicates!”.
Gergana is the author of four podcasts on the BNR website – “Covid Vaccines”, “Health, Science, Innovation”, “Skin and Sun” and “At the Center of the System”. She has as well published three collections of author’s poems – “Road and Temple”, “Blinks of Blades” and “Sunset”.

 

justine toms

Justine Toms was born in Sofia, a Bulgarian from Armenian origin. She has Master degrees from Sofia University in Pedagogy, French philology and Philosophy. Justine is among the pioneers of the Bulgarian Internet – expert in online communication, creator of multiple websites and two web contests. An expert in online media and marketing, founder of digital agency ABC Design & Communication since 1988. Justine has also been the idea leader of the competition for best Bulgarian online projects – BG Site since 1999. A university teacher at New Bulgarian University, Sofia University and SoftUni Digital. For many years, Justine has been an activist-volunteer in numerous initiatives – child’s reading, digital competences, online safety, Wikipedia and open source, environmental topics.
